This project is funded through the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry’s Farm Ready Initiative.
The project is designed to support dairy farmers in preparing for climate change. The program covers a number of key areas including;
· identifying and assessing impacts of climate change on different farm systems;
· heat stress management;
· feed conversion efficiency;
· water, energy and other resource use efficiency.
The project will develop and deliver 39 workshops between July 2009 and March 2012 providing dairy farmers with risk management strategies, best management practices and practical solutions to adapt farming systems. Case studies, demonstration sites, and publications will reinforce the workshop activities and provide valuable reference material for farm planning. Project activities will be conducted throughout all dairying regions in Queensland.
