QDO Rubs Shoulders with Premier & Ministers at Government Christmas Function

QDO Vice-President Ross McInnes

On Monday I represented dairy alongside Queensland Farmers’ Federation (QFF) President Stuart Armitage and CEO, Travis Tobin at the Premier’s Annual Christmas Function held at the Art Gallery on Southbank.  In attendance were the who’s who of Queensland’s government, culture, industry and business.

The event gave QDO the opportunity to meet and converse with Minsters key to dairy including Agriculture Minister Bill Byrne, Water & Energy Minister Mark Bailey, Workplace Relations & Safety Minister Grace Grace and Minister for Innovation, Science and the Digital Economy and Minister for Small Business Leeanne Enoch.

During the course of the evening I took the opportunity to hand out the ‘I Buy Branded Milk’ magnets to Ministers and key government staff alike. The relation was overwhelmingly positive from all Minister’s about supporting the dairy industry in Queensland. The Premier even reminisced on the fact that her father, Henry Palaszczuk, had served as Agriculture Minister, a job which he very much enjoyed. Ms Palaszczuk said she would definitely give one of the magnets to her father too.

The night was a great opportunity to engage on some soft and positive mingling with key decision makers in Government. I hope the positive reaction to the Queensland dairy industry at the party can translate to beneficial outcomes for members in the New Year.
