As reported in Dairy Australia's Dairyweb News - October 23

Six dairy cows died, presumably from lightning strikes, near Malanda in FNQ last week.

The cows, four Illawarras and two Holsteins, were found within about 5m of each other. James Johnston was searching for missing cattle at milking time when he stumbled on the carcasses on Thursday morning. He said lightning was the only explanation.

“I am not sure what else it would be,” he said. “There was quite a lot of lightning around. Dad said the insides would have been cooked,” he said.
