In the midst of the current 10 cent/litre Drought Levy campaign and QDO's attendance at the Beaudesert Show a few weekends ago has not made it into the Weekly Update. It was heartening to see so many school groups attend the show on the Friday and the teachers encouraging the children to walk through the dairy exhibit to vote for The Cream of Australia, cutest cow in show competition.
Having the public engaging with our farmers at these events is vital. Not only does it help create awareness of our industry, but also allows people to see the faces who are doing it so tough. Our farmers were again enjoying the competition - both the official and not so official events at the show.
For QDO staffers, Torie and Sarah, it was nice to receives so many warm words of encouragement of the Drought Levy and QDO’s attempt to make a positive difference to the industry. As everyone knows, we intend to continue to have this 10 cents until it happens and the ongoing support we are getting makes it easier for us to keep up the momentum.
