It has been an exciting week for the industry at the Brisbane Ekka with Queensland Dairyfarmers’ Organisation (QDO) members and staff out in force spreading the importance of buying branded milk to city consumers.
QDO members and staff have been on out in the crowds thanking consumers for supporting the Queensland dairy industry by buying branded milk with our ‘I buy branded milk’ fridge magnets. The reception has been overwhelming with members of the public taking the time to encourage our farmers. It is fair to say that the Queensland dairy industry has not had this level of public awareness and vocal support for years. It really is uplifting and heartening, so thank you.
The on ground Ekka blitz coincides with the launch of our social media and branded milk facts/‘Frequently Asked Questions’ campaign that aims to answer common consumers questions on the impacts of $1 per litre milk.
QDO is specifically showcasing our three large or six smaller Queensland processors to consumers. From feedback we have received, consumers want to buy branded milk to support our farmers, but sometimes are confused as to which ’brands’ support the industry.
The aim of this campaign is to clear up these misconceptions by empowering consumers with the knowledge they need to make the right and informed choice at the checkout. For a full list of the brands and some branded milk facts, visit the QDO website.
The Ekka is a show all about agriculture, so what better place to get some discussion going between city and country. As the divide between the city grows, farmers have very few opportunities like the Ekka to talk directly with the city. That is why it is essential that dairy and other industries take this unique opportunity when the attention turns to us.
